This new capability is made possible by the support of both products for IFC 2 × 2 standard data published by the International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI).

For ArchiCAD and ETABS, data sharing through IFC 2 × 2 means that the structural elements are designed in ArchiCAD can be made directly to ETABS for the tasks of structural design and analysis, then returned to ArchiCAD. Elements can be checked and designed not only for normal weight, but also the ability to meet strict standards to withstand earthquakes, according to CSI.
"From now on, even in areas of seismic activity, Virtual Building design aesthetic created in ArchiCAD will not remain just a vision of architecture; with structural elements also appear to have proved seismic resistance," says Bence Kovacs, Vice President of ArchiCAD Product Management from Graphisoft.
