Modern office furniture company picks new area headquarters

Economic incentives are expected to help keep the Lansing office furniture company in the area and add new jobs.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Smart Office Systems President Paul Covert said Monday that the company will open a new corporate headquarters near the Capital City Airport in Lansing. Smart Office Systems' main office today at 2110 S. Washington St

Bernero said in a statement SOS is "ready" to create jobs with growth at 15 new locations and added $ 300,000 for Lansing tax base. According to the Lansing State Journal list of largest tri-county area office furniture dealers, Smart Office Systems has 60 employees. The city council is expected to consider the incentives offered at the council meeting tonight at 7 pm
