When Deciding on a Change of Cabinet Hinges

If you've seen your kitchen cupboards and think you want to change something, do you think about changing the location of a cabinet hinge? Although this may seem like simple ideas, can really make a big difference in the display door. In addition, if you already have a set of cabinet doors do not open the best way they can (say, a door opened to the refrigerator or always banging against something) to change the direction of the hinge can fix this.

Here's how to do it:

First, take a close look at the closet door in a closed state to see which way is best for your hinges to go.

Please note, changing the placement of your cabinet hinges not only change their direction is open, but the overall appearance of the door. If, for example, some doors you're set a little lower than you want them in your closet, this would be a good time to move the hinges that match and ask them to sit where you want them.

Now determine the type of changes you need to create and continue the match.

Hinge Changing Sides

If you want to change the side of your door hinges are on, there is more to do than just replace the cabinet hinge from one side to the other side. In addition, you will have many holes to fill and repair.

Carefully remove the screws holding the hinges to the cabinet frame. Chances are you will be able to change the door completely on and attach it, without making new holes in the door itself. This will depend on the shape and design of your closet door. If this happens, you can mark the new hole in the cabinet frame, drill and install the door on that side.

If you flip around does not work, you have to deal with the holes on the other side of the door. For this you will want to see the shop for wood putty. These days many come in the same wood color as the wood you may have in your closet. If you can match this closely enough, you may not need to do any painting or staining to the area improved.

Once you have applied the putty in accordance with the instructions to decide whether you need to do more than that. If the mixture well into the wood, you may be, if not, you should try to match the stain or paint to the area and hide the replacement hinge.

Vertical change your Cabinet Hinges

If your problem is that the door you sit too low or too high, it's time to move in a vertical cabinet hinges. Be careful to measure the new holes and move the door to your desired height. Remember, if you have a lot of doors, make sure they are even across the board.

Once again, you have to use putty and may stain or paint to fill the holes, as above, and make your cabinet doors look new again.
