Hot Property Inspiration Ideas

Forest City Enterprises, renowned creator of Stapleton in Colorado, is turned on its sustainability efforts. October and the master developer broke ground on Mesa del Sol, a 12,900 acre community in Albuquerque, NM's southeast mesa.

As with the previous communities, Forest City hopes to lure settlers to the streets pedestrian friendly, neotraditional architecture, and energy-efficient homes, plus one more thing: friendly work environment. With 310 sunny days per year on average, this desert oasis is the ideal solar technology incubator.

In accordance with the Albuquerque city growth strategy, Mesa del Sol is the companies going out of renewable energy not only for clothing houses, but to serve as the first employer. Vision is to establish a hub for national photovoltaic research, development, manufacturing, and prototyping. In November, Advent Solar, a developer of solar cells and modules, is the first player to sign.

For home buyers exhausted by skyrocketing real estate prices, Mesa del Sol promise another perk: New single-family homes average $ 175,000 along this stretch of the Sun Belt, compared with some coastal markets where prices rapidly approaching one million dollars. And by 8000 the house is scheduled for the first phase of development during the next 15 years, there will be plenty to choose from. Outlook: bright. www.builderonline.com
