Flint Hills to the festival, artists to share their craft

As part of the Flint Hills International Children's Festival, international and regional musicians, theater artists and puppeteers will host a free workshop Thursday about the creative process in their work. Music and theater workshops will be held at Rice Park, puppetry workshops will be in the Ordway Center lobby and street art demonstrations will be held on Market Street, next to the Landmark Plaza. All events will run Thursday 5:30-7:30 On Friday, a dance workshop will run 5:30-7:30 at the Washington Street outside the Ordway. Registration is required. Annual case: To honor the victims and survivors of people who are injured by a drunk driver, Mothers Against Drunk Driving victim will sponsor the annual 10-hour Vigil on Saturday morning at Como Lakeside Pavilion.

Quilting camp: Quilter Cyndi Kaye Meier will lead a youth creative quilting camp beginning June 12. Five-day camp, sponsored by the Falcon Heights Parks and Recreation, is designed for ages 9-13. Summer ballet class: Beginning Tuesday, Zachari's ballerina will offer ballet lessons at the North Presbyterian Church, E. 2675 Minnesota 36. Eight-week program preballet students (age 4 and older) runs from noon to 12:30 Ballet lessons for ages 7 and older run 12:30-3:30 Tuesday and Thursday. Cost is $ 30 for preballet class and $ 50 for ballet. Classes are also offered at the Dayton's Bluff Rec Center in St. Paul. Calling artists: Entries sought from artists interested in displaying their work during the annual RoseArts Festival, sponsored by the Ramsey Center for Arts. The event, which will be held 1-2 July, will be in Roseville's Central Park, 2540 N. Lexington Ave. The deadline to submit slides, photos or digital images is Thursday. For entry forms, call 651-486-4883 or e-mail info@ramseycfa.org. Artists must provide all display. The exhibition will be spread across the bottom of Central Park. A large tent will be available for the first 15 artists who requested it.
Summer camp: Rosetown Playhouse, a Roseville-based community theater group, is accepting applications for the annual SummerArts Day Camp for ages 8-13. Participants will learn about the art of performing and writing during the camp, which lasted from June 12 to July 1 at Central Park. Hours are 9 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Cost is $ 375.
