Faux green, flowers earn respect among the flower shop, designer

Fabric home design trends and floral trees - long known in the interior design world as "silks," although they are usually made of other materials, now a decorator's trusty friend, used to fill the empty spaces and warm rooms.

"Today's lifestyle has become so busy that people do not have the time to nurture plant life," says Howard Yeakel, silk department manager Phoebe Floral in Allentown, Pa. "Silks is a good alternative or supplement."

Faux green and the flowers have gained acceptance and respect because they have been greatly improved in quality, designers and florists say.

A common practice is to put silk in the corners of the living room of life and death to fill the space. Less obvious, but along the same lines, is their position in the area between the wall and the couch, says Kristi Lisiecki, a designer.

"We do not always like to line the walls with furniture, because you end with the furniture along the exterior of the room and bowling alley in the middle," Lisiecki said. "If we float a sofa in a room, we will use the back behind the palm trees to give some height to the area."

In general, placing a high faux plants is a good way to utilize the space in the room - the room was not inhabited by low furniture.

Silk can be used well in these places:

• Guest rooms are not occupied on a regular basis but will benefit from the effects of a wreath welcomes realistic when visitors arrive, designers say. The same thing applies to using them in the front door or porch.

• Rooms with a lot of wood or tiles and the lack of coating, such as the dining room and bathroom, for softening the edge of the harsh settings.

• Mantels, a grand piano or a desk with a large, flat surface. "If you have a large dining table and flat and long, you want to see the large, drop-dead beautiful arrangement there when you do not entertain, so to fill space when you walk in," Yeakel said.

Most flower shops and designers recommend you take a piece of your wall color, furniture, carpet and / or drapes when you buy silk. People often use color to accent the dominant color of flowers in a room, in the same way that may use a throw or pillow. A brown couch, for example, may call for orange tiger lilies at the end of the table, notes Lisiecki.

Be sure to match the style of your furniture, too. If you have a modern home, choose a vase to hold the statue of bouquets you, not a coarse basket. This is also a good idea to take measurements for the space is silk, or someone from the florist shop or visit your home interior design.

Not something you should do?

Candle in a silk arrangement that is not safe, said Thomas. Silk and placed flowers in a clear vase is not recommended, because the stems are often the most realistic part of the artificial flowers.

As with any decoration, remember: Do not go to sea. "You do not need flowers on every available surface," Lisiecki said.

A trend in interest rate is set for the same type of group interest rather than using a different type.

"It looks more like you are gardening and just cut a bunch of tulips and threw them into a vase," Yeakel said. "It looks naturalistic."

Most are not made of silk, but can be washed with a material that is easy to clean. Craft stores and flower shops sell special sprays that you can use the leaves every few months when they started to get dusty.
