Earl Spencer goes into modern furniture business

U.S. citizens who want to live like the English nobleman now have the opportunity to buy furniture reproduction of Princess Diana's family.

Diana's brother, Charles Edward Maurice, 9th Earl Spencer, appeared this week at a preview party at Lillian August furniture store in an industrial area in Norwalk, Conn.

Prices range from $ 300 for the humidor to $ 8,000 for a mahogany china cabinets and bookshelves, the Stamford (Conn.) Advocate reported. Lest anyone think that Earl is greedy, he said that all profits from the furniture will go to the maintenance of Althorp, the Spencer family seat.

Spencer said that his favorite is an old chest because he was using tennis rackets and cricket bats. Chest once belonged to ancestors of George Washington - relatives of the Spencer family who became followers of the hard times - and goes for $ 2300, complete with a reproduction of scratches and stains the wine has taken over the centuries.

The Althorp line, made in Vietnam by Theodore Alexander Co., which will be available on the 85 up-market and chain stores around the United States.
